Frequently Asked Questions:
What kind of dogs do you train?
We focus on family/pet dog training for basic manners and addressing behavioural issues. We train all breeds at any age. If you are looking for a service we do not offer we can certainly point you in the right direction.
Do you do use treats/food for training?
Absolutely. However we do use it differently than most trainers. Instead of using food as a lure or bribe we use it like a pay cheque to reward when the dog does what we want. When we use food to reward good behaviour, that behaviour is going to happen more often and more quickly. We rarely use treats but rather encourage our clients to use the dogs actual meals.
What is your style of training?
As our name states, our focus is on balance. We feel it is only fair to provide our dogs with clear information when they are doing something right and when they are doing it wrong. We also believe in relationship based training as a foundation. While we do offer obedience training, our specialty is in helping dogs become calm, well behaved family members that you can be proud to include in your daily activities.
What kind of training tools do you use?
We use a wide variety of training tools, with the only tool we don’t use being harnesses. Our choice of tool is based on the individual dog we are working, the issues we are working to solve, and the owners skill set. We will use the best tool to get the results you are looking to achieve.
My dog is reactive towards dogs or people, can I attend your group class?
The short answer is yes. However, depending on the severity of your dogs issues we may require that you do some private training prior to attending group class.
I don’t see prices listed in the Training Programs and Board & Trains, how much do you charge?
Our training is based on results, not lessons. All our programs are customized to suit your needs. Since every dog is an individual and every owner has different goals, the prices and program outlines vary to match what you are looking for. For prices and more information please contact us to set up a free evaluation.
What payment methods do you take?
We accept cash, cheque, credit card and e-transfer.
What are your business hours?
We are open Monday to Friday 9am – 9pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm.
We are closed Sunday.
